is it safe to move over a couple of my whole itunes library (which includes all music, iphone/ipad apps, movies and books) from my mbp to a g5 tower just by making a copy of the library?

I transferred my entire library from my 2007 MacBook to a Dual 1.42 G4 with no issues. Export the library from iTunes "File....Library...ExportLibrary. Keep that file separate from everything. Copy with an external HD, or over the network or something your iTunes Music Folder from the original computer and set it in the music folder on your PPC. Move the exported library file to the desktop of the ppc for safekeeping. Open iTunes on the PPC and go to "File....Library....Import Playlist and toggle to your exported file. The rest should be automatic. Your playlists will be re-created on the PPC. Worked for me with no problems.
