Transfering iTunes library from PC to Mac

I want to export my iTunes library from my PC to a Mac and keep the ratings and play counts if that's possible too. How can I go about doing this? Will I need a Mac app to extract all the songs from my iPod and rebuild the library on the Mac hdd? Will this preserve the ratings and play counts? Thanks

Do you have an iPod (or really any fat/ntfs external HD, just skip the "Switch the iPod to manual update and enable disk use" paragraph)? If so: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
