Here is the scenario:
I have a Sony DCR-HC52 miniDV camera, with firewire.
I have a MBP running iMovie 10 and osX 10.6 SL
I am trying to get my video's off the camera and into the MBP.
I open iMovie and go File>Import from camera
The import window opens, and I hit the import button
The camcorder runs, but the image is severely pixelated and unviewable.
Can anyone provide any guidance as to what settings I may be missing in order to import my DV movies into iMovie?
Thanks in advance.

I do not have that camera... but just a quick question... are you trying to import old/aging tapes, or new recordings? Tapes have a limited shelf life before the signal degrades. Also, are you using a known good Firewire cable?

I recently imported all of my old tapes. Mine were 8mm and VHS analog tapes, and most were fine, but certainly the image was degraded and a few tapes could not sync in certain parts of the tapes.

The tapes are recent as it is still my current video cam. And, I assume it is a good firewire cable as it is new. But, that could certainly be the issue, as we all know how cables can be.
