Transferring app data to iTunes

I do not have any of my apps synched to iTunes, and I've stored quite a bit of data in the apps on my iPhone. If I try to sync my apps to iTunes, I get the message, "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone “iPhone” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library." I'd like to keep what I have on my phone, but simply replace the information iTunes has on my apps and their data with the information from my iPhone. How can I do this?

edit: never mind. I've got the issue resolved now.
