Transferring data from G5 to new mini

okay, i have a powermac g5, and i use time machine with it. If i sell the G5 and keep the external time machine drive, can i just connect the time machine drive to my new mini and get everything back? I want to get everything back, including apps, files etc. Can i just drag everything off the external drive and copy it all to my mini? Thanks for the help!

OS X has an option to restore files from a time machine backup in the Migration Assistant app (Applications->Utilities).

Migration assistant transfers:

• User accounts
• Applications
• Network and computer settings
• Files
• Volumes

So it should get Applications.
