I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer video previously recorded on a DVD-R (video, not computer). I'm looking for the best combination of top quality in a stable platform and file size. I recently heard that JPEG's degrade over time, which made me concerned about video formats as well. I'm also considering transferring all of my movie DVD's over to a digital format - completely legal! I own the DVDs and plan on keeping them, just tired of having piles of them everywhere...

Oh, and I'm new to the whole forum thing, so please bear with me!
Thanks!

It can get a little testy in here sometimes, especially about this subject cause it gets asked so much
You can do some searches from the menu above or with MRoogle and find more info
