Hi guys,

I've got a portable hard drive that I use for time machine and for backing up my music and video files on my mac.
I've just purchased a new vista PC and would like to transfer the music I've got (around 30 gigs worth) and the videos I've saved (an additional 30 gig) onto it, however when I plug the portable hard drive into my vista pc it doesn't recognise it??

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks,
Sacred

You probably have it formatted for mac, probably HSF+. You will need a program to view that format on Vista. I believe the program is called MacDrive.

cheers guys, is their not a free way to do this? as the software costs $50

Are the computers on the same network?

If so, all you need to do is create a Shared folder on the Vista PC, then on the Mac mount the share and copy the files over from the external drive over the network.

yes, network would be the best, most cost effective way to go.

To each his own...but why did you buy a vista machine...you're not leaving Mac are you?
