Transferring files within iChat

I wanted to send some files over to my parents via iChat. I read that there is no limit to the size of file that can be transferred. However, when I try to send a fairly large file it won't fully transfer to their computer. It seems like there will be just a few minutes left and I will get an error. I have zipped the files because I noticed thats how iChat likes to send files. Should I be having these problems transferring files within iChat? What are some other/better ways to transfer files from one computer to the next. Just to clarify, these computers are located in different states so I can't hook the computers up or transfer using a thumb drive or external hard drive.

I have sent files through ichat and have never encountered any problems however their may be a limit to the file size your sending so it cancels itself towards the end. Why don't you try sending it from another application like adium, skype or any of the messengers to see if the problem still occurs.
