I searched on this and only became more confused. I have an external HD with only a firewire port- My new macbook only has USB. I looked on Amazon, is there such thing as a firewire to USB adapter? What's the best way to transfer material onto my new Mac?

Thx!

Unfortunately there are no suitable adapters, so you basically have two options for transferring the data:

  • Go through another computer with firewire
  • Disassemble the external HD and purchase an USB adapter for the bare drive

Do you have access to another computer with firewire?

ahh

ok, thanks so much. yes, i will find a friend's MBP to use...crazy there isnt a better way?

thanks!
