Hi
I have my iPhoto libraries on a mac mini running OS X Yosemite. This uses iPhoto.
I manually copied (drag and dropped) the libraries across to a hard disc but when I connected this disc to a new mac with OS X Yosemite and Photo, and tried to import them, I ran into difficulties. The new mac can't seem to see recognise the library files in Photos. While Finder recognises the files as photo libraries, Photos seems to reject them with the message "Nothing to import".
What are the steps I need to take to import the libraries successfully?
Thanks in advance,

iPhoto libraries and Photo libraries are not the same. As a result you can't copy the iPhoto libraries and import them into Photo. I would download iPhoto to the new Mac and import the library, then open Photo and tell it to scan you mac for photos. It should then find the photos, once it has imported them you can delete iPhoto.
