I see the new version of iTunes no longer allows you to back up your itunes library to DVD or CD....god knows why?...it will however let you back up to an external hard drive which I don't want to go out to buy just for this one off task.

Is iCloud the answer?...how long will it take to upload 5gb of music to the cloud?

I'd recommend an external drive, not just for iTunes, but for backing up all your data. You can use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of your internal drive, then update it periodically with incremental backups. If your drive ever dies, you simply swap the internal and external drives and boot up.

No thats crazy! I just want to transfer my itunes library from my old pc to this new macbook, why do I have to go out and buy a hard drive?.....am I alone in thinking thats mental?

Why have they stopped people from backing up to cd or dvd?..

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
