Transferring iTunes Library

Hi,

I'm soon to dish my old 2006 Macbook for a new upcoming model. The only data I really care about transferring is my iTunes Library...roughly 1700 items, 12 GB. I have a lot of purchased iTunes music/CD's but also some shared music. What is the best way to transfer this music? Will iTunes Match work on my Macbook running snow leopard? Thanks for any advice.
