I just bought a new macbook pro and want to transfer my music library over as easy as possible.

I want to keep all the checked properties, the play counts, and the playlists without having to re-make them.

Is it possible to just copy all the music over and then quit iTunes, replace the iTunes library data file and the iTunes library xml file of my new computer with that of my old one, restart iTunes, and will it take on the characteristics of my old library with all the properties such as play count, the checked property, and all that?

Questions or comments welcome...

Thanks,
Alex

Make sure both versions of iTunes are the same, then open itunes on your mbp then close it, to make sure you have an itunes library on the macbook pro. Then Start your powerbook in firewire target disk mode (hold T when powering up) connect with a firewire cable and just overwrite the itunes library on the Macbook Pro with the iTunes library from the powerbook.
