I have garageband 6 installed, is it possible to transfer those lessons, free ones, from garageband 6 to garageband 10? I think it's silly on my part to pay for it if it's free on garageband 6.

Should not be a problem. Here is a link explaining it. Once you have downloaded GarageBand 10, all you need to do is go to File>Restore Purchase. I have the additional loops package and doing this worked perfect. Restored all the additional loops I purchased in an earlier version (6.0.5) of GarageBand.
