iPad Pro Transferring .Mov files from SD Card to IPP

anyone any idea why I can't transfer a movie in .mov format from SD card to IPP using 3rd party adaptor? It goes through the motion of transferring, but creates an image with the play triangle / circle in it.

I did read that IPP will not play .mov?

Now here's the confusing bit....I used my Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick to transfer .mov and they transferred fine. It's just a slower process doing one by one.

I do something a bit more ridiculous - i use a kangaroo portable PC) and use the IPAD as the monitor for windows 10. with this, i can connect to iTunes and transfer from any media format to my iPad to the INFUSE app for watching. Bit cumbersome but it does the job.
