Transferring Purchases

Hi,

My brother wants to purchase an iMac at the weekend after seeing mine that i purchased this weekend just gone. He purchases a lot of music and videos from iTunes and wants to transfer them onto the iMac from his MacBook air which has a 1TB external drive.

My question is can i just drag the videos from iTunes onto the external hard drive and then load them back from the drive into iTunes on the iMac. Am hoping you don't have to download all of the music and films again as this would take forever.

Assuming the music and videos are on the same account you can share them on up to 5 devices.
