Transferring/selling used AppleCare on iPhone possible?

I have a friend who lost his iPhone and purchased AppleCare extended care protection for it. My question is, could he sell me his Applecare box/code and I can register it under my name? What would I need from him?

Unfortunately, you can not transfer Apple Care once it is registered.
