I just got a new macbook today and I'm trying transfer all my songs from my iPod, which I've always used with a PC (I'm not sure if that makes a difference), but the program I've used in Windows before, Ephpod, isn't working on a Mac. Does anyone know of any good free programs? thanks

I think it would be easier if you networked your new Mac to the old PC. As long as your network was relatively fast, it would be less painless. This would certainly guarantee that your play counts and other stuff like that get carried over. I think album art would also stay intact.
