I currently have iOS6 beta 4 and I was wondering what the steps were when the real version comes out? Do I just update from apple like usual or do I have to completely wipe my phone and restore as "new iPhone" ? May seem like a dumb question but I was just wondering!

Edit: Sep 19th sorry

Just update to GM, it'll be the same as the public version.

On the same topic,

I am beta testing for a friend so I'm registered and all that, currently running Beta 4. I don't care about the GM if it means I need to clean install (?) it. If I just wait for the public release can I click update in iTunes as normal or must I still wipe my phone and install?

Not sure about GM, but I managed to upgrade iOS 5.1.1 on my 4S to iOS 6 Beta 4 without losing much. Instead of Restore, I held shift and clicked on Update instead, then chose IPSW file for B4. The only hick-up was that I have iTunes Match, and during the update the setting got toggled to OFF (all my music was still on the phone though). Obviously, when I toggled it back on, it deleted all my music and I had to re-download whatever I physically wanted on the phone from iCloud. Other than that, all apps (along with settings and saved data), videos, settings, call/text history, etc. were preserved.

I don't see it being any different when GM is released.

The only question is: will GM be available OTA to developers/beta testers immediately after it is released, or will they have to wait until public release to snag it OTA. Note that the option to download it from developer account and update by connecting to a Mac/PC would still be there.

Doesn't matter. The GM has never done UDID checks in the past, thus allowing anyone to use it.
Correct. Although if you are planning to install iOS 6 GM before it is released to general public, you will need to perform "wired" upgrade, in other words, get your hands on IPSW file and connect your iDevice to a computer to do it. I seriously doubt Apple will make OTA upgrade available before the official release date. Well, maybe they will offer OTA GM upgrade to Beta users; however, those running 5.x will have to wait until it is officially out.

Spot on, GM has NEVER required a UDID to be registered as it's the same as the public build.

OTA won't work until the 21st since it's not public until then.

5 more days!

Ok so I can just download it from somewhere than is what I am understanding? Either way whether I download it from before the 19th, I heard someone say that u have to do it a certain way to get all the bugyness of iOS6 beta 4 out.
I dont know lol just making sure!

if you have beta 4 installed and click check for updates it will just say your up to date you would need to either downgrade or dfu or recovery mode the device hit restore and let it download iOS 6

He can just download it somwhere and hold the option (alt) button down and press update and navigate to where he downloaded the ipsw file. Without restoring the device or downgrade first

or ignore what I said lol backup the phone and hit restore and it will download iOS 6 and restore to official build and restore from backup

Is the GM iOS6 going to be as easy to find and download as the beta 4 was? Meaning on the 12th!

Is restore from backup (backup was done on iOS 6 beta 4) functioning with iOS 6 GM? Can someone please confirm this?
