Transmission port closed and airport problem

So i have had this macbook pro with snow leopard for a few months now and everything has been going fine. The other day I noticed that my torrents in transmission were not uploading. I tried to "randomize port" in transmission but no matter how many times I click on that button, it always says "port is closed". So i can download torrents, but not seed them. While doing some research I was going to try port forwarding by going to the airport utility. but the airport utility says it s unable to find a airport wireless devices, but i am still connected to the internet. I dont even know if that is what I am supposed to do, but I cant figure anything else out. I also change locations alot, if that matters.
