Transmission Problems

I can't seem to get Transmission to work anymore. Whenever I see what port it is using, the port is closed and there is an error in port mapping. My ethernet cord plugs directly from my computer into the wall.

I go to Sys. Prefs. and add a port to my allowed ports in the firewall tab, and then I tell Transmission to use that port...but it still doesn't work.

What does the plug in the wall lead to?
