Hey MacRumors:Forums Members,

My internet provider has a download limit, between 4am-9am I've got the off-peak download limit. So I prefer downloading my torrents during that time.

I've scheduled the Start Up & Sleep time for my Mac to turn on & off.

But when it shuts down, because of Transmission not being able to quit, my Mac stays on.

So after I come home from work everyday, I find my computer still on.

So lately I basically remote access through TeamViewer from work to my Mac and force quit Transmission to allow it to shut down.

Is there a fix for this, or maybe some setting I've got to turn on.

Thanks,

Shaun

try utorrent; I switched from Transmission to uTorrent, as uTorrent behaves much better on public trackers.

If you're attached to Transmission for whatever reason, you could just set up a cron job to run "killall Transmission" at 9:01

Transmission requires a long time to notify all the torrents individually of quitting. You can run a script to quit transmission, and then shut computer down after x minutes (x minutes depend on # of torrents).

Or you can schedule transfer limit for transmission, say 0k or 1K/s during peak times.

I have found that Transmission takes forever to quit, so I can't just hit restart or shutdown if it is open.

I first wait for Transmission to close, which can take about 2 minutes, and then shut down, as every other app of mine behaves correctly.
