Transparency issues esp. dashboard

I recently allowed a 14 yo unsupervised access to my Mac (huge mistake). She apparently thought the preferences were not to her likening and made some changes. I have been able to undo most of the system alterations, however when I launch Dashboard all the widgets are completely black. Also I have noticed the volume up/down icon is black (see screen shots). This is a deck top Mac running 10.6.7.

What has see done, and how can I get my dashboard back?

Checked the Universal Access prefs, seems OK
