A simple question that I can't seem to get an answer for anywhere else (should have tried MR first!):

I use the 3rd-party TransparentDock (v.2.3.9) app/utility. In the past, OS X upgrades tend to mess with the Dock and break the functionality of TD. As far as I know, TD 2.3.9 works up through System 10.4.8.

Does anyone know if it also works with

A. 10.4.9 (possible)
B. or the just-released 10.4.10 (less likely)

I've heard contradictory info either way, for both OS's. Searched here but can't find any threads on this specific issue. Appreciate a clear answer, i.e., "yes for 10.4.9, no for 10.4.10" (people on other threads just tend to say yes or no, without specifying).

Thanks

if it worked with 10.4.8 it shuld still work, I don't remember what I am using to make my dock clear, but it is either that or cleardock and it works fine in 10.4.10

Thanks - but again, not concretely helpful. TD is "notorious" for not working with new system versions - so just b/c it works on 10.4.8 means nothing. As for Cleardock, I'd rather steer clear (no pun intended) of haxies, APE, etc.

So...anyone using TD 2.3.9 on 10.4.9 OR 10.4.10 (on PPC by default) who can say definitively if it works? Thanks.

Running on Intel 10.4.10 with no problems, I'm not running the Safari beta though.

Which is interesting, because TD is not yet Universal/Intel, and the dev talks about his great difficulties in porting it over! Care to elaborate?

i'm not sure what that means. i drag the apps i want in there like the regular dock.
If you open TD, under the Dock Setup tab there's an option to 'Lock Icons in Dock'. This means that you can't move the icons. You know how sometimes you accidentally move icons around when you don't release the mouse button quick enough? Well, I used to, anyway. Locking the icons means they stay in place. But last time I tried on an Intel machine that wouldn't work. I was just wondering, if you have an Intel machine, whether you could try it out and see if it works. :)

what's TD?

Thanks to folks here, I took the plunge and can confirm that TD 2.3.9 works on both 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 - PPC only, of course! I have not installed the Safari 3 beta, but comments elsewhere strongly suggest the new Dock it installs would scotch the whole works.

ClearDock still works just peachy.

True, but TD has many more settings. In particular, I like being able to set the color of the arrow next to the application icon. With the dock transparent, having any dark background makes the arrows invisible.

You mean change the arrows under the open icons like below? You can do that with ClearDock.
