Hi there
First of all, I am completely new in using forums, using in the way of posting a thread myself. I did find until now everytime a solution for my 'problems'. MacRumors helped most, so I did decide to register here!

I bought new MBP september last year. Everything is fine and works very well. Only the trash bin is not working! The symbol itself is where it has to be, but it seems it has no folder. When I delete files I always have to confirm final delete, even if I drop it to the symbol. I migrated Profile via Time Machine, tried it another two times with no success. If I change profile to "Guest" it can be used, but my one, the Administrator one, has no trash.. Even If I delete all other profiles, I still can't use it.

Anybody can help me?

PS: sorry, my english is not the very best one...

thx for the link. looks great, but did not solve my problem... it is still telling me

BC:~ BC$ ls ~/.Trash
ls: /Users/BC/.Trash: No such file or directory

I tried it three times and also restarted it after every time. any other option? how can I get this f.... folder back?

thx again!

Did you follow all the instructions?

2. Verify that your ~/.Trash directory exists:
  1. Open Terminal, located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
  2. At the Terminal prompt, type the following command exactly as written:
    ls ~/.Trash
  3. Press Return.
  4. If the response contains "No such file or directory" then:
    • Either log out of your account or restart your Mac.
    • Log in to your account. You should now be able to add objects to the Trash: stop here.
Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
3. Empty and recreate your account's Trash.

I did indeed. I first tried the
sudo rm -rf /Users/user_name/.Trash

reboot, try deleting something, got message "will be deleted immediately"

So I scrolled down and tried the listing, then again I did this
sudo rm -rf /Users/user_name/.Trash

reboot2, try deleting something, got message "will be deleted immediately"
reboot3 - and still it is asking me the "..." as Alert Message and still it is telling me "No such file or directory" in the terminal box when list.

I checked all the rights in system preferences either in finder menu and information task as per cmd+I.

Now I did logge on as guest and tried the
sudo -rf /Users/BC/.Trash

and was given
usage: sudo [-n] -h | -K | -k | -L | -V | -v
usage: sudo -l[l] [-AnS] [-g groupname|#gid] [-U username] [-u username|#uid]
[-g groupname|#gid] [command]
usage: sudo [-AbEHnPS] [-C fd] [-g groupname|#gid] [-p prompt] [-u
username|#uid] [-g groupname|#gid] [VAR=value] [-i|-s] [<command>]
usage: sudo -e [-AnS] [-C fd] [-g groupname|#gid] [-p prompt] [-u
username|#uid] file ...

a new listing failed.. ??
