Trash can will NOT EMPTY

Hello,

google wont help me at all and youtube sucks
so
I have 2 problems:
when ever I try to empty out the garbage can it says this:

"The Finder cant complete the operation because some data in "_____" cant be read or written" (Error code -36)
and

"The operation cant be completed because the item "___" is in use"

I checked my separate hard drive and my computer, and there is no such file. I tried restarting my mac and it's doing the same thing as ever.
Please help, the trash can is annoying me alot + I cant even empty it

Did you verify the disk with disk utility and repair permissions? Did you try holding the option key while clicking the trash-can to force it to empty?

Hi,
yes I remembered some one saying i should use the disk utility on it. But I just didnt notice that I had a video playing
so that partially stopped the disk utility from fixing the disk
