Trash folder says I have 2 emails, but there aren't any emails in the trash?

I have gmail set up via Microsoft exchange, pushing to my 4S. It tells me there are two messages in my trash folder, but when I look in the trash, there's nothing there. I checked it on the computer also, and nothing, no spam mails either.

What's the deal with that, and how do I clear out the two mystery emails?

Do a reset of the phone and that will take care of it.

As in turning it on/off or a hard reset? Definitely don't want to have to all out format and restore from backup on the phone...

If that doesn't work delete the account and then add it back.
