I am going to travel abroad tomorrow and I am not interested in any type of prepaid sim for data and that stuff. Just I don't want a massive bill when I come back (no roaming) but I want to use Wi-Fi. Just putting the iPhone in Airplane Mode and turning on Wi-Fi is enough?

Yep that'll stop all roaming charges for sure.

Data roaming should be off by default but you can check in Settings --> Cellular.

That said, I find that it's often worth paying for a basic data plan when I'm abroad so I can send and receive texts and check maps and look places up on the go. Data packages start at about $30 and can be activated for just the month you are traveling. I keep Data Roaming off and reset my data counter on the phone, then only turn it on when I actively need to use it.
