I will be going out of town around the 24th for awhile and I want to have a family member on my at&t account overnight my new iPhone 4 to me. I just have a few questions about how I might manage this.

1) Activating the new iPhone 4 will disable my 3GS when the new sim card is activated. Is there any way around this so I can continue using my current 3GS until my iPhone 4 arrives?

2) Is it possible for her (family member) to pick up my two iPhone 4s on the launch day without me there?

She is authorized in my at&t account to make changes etc so I don't think 2 will be a problem, but I want to ask first.

1) You will need a computer to activate your new iPhone 4. Hopefully you will have a laptop with iTunes and internet access? What happens is you 3GS doesn't get deactivated until the iPhone 4 is activated.

2) It is one iPhone 4 per customer. :(

OK, we have some issues here. .

First, are you trying to have her pickup the pre-order at Apple? The primary account has to be present at Apple, only Retail Authorized user at AT&T and AT&T pre-orders don't hit the store until June 25 or later based on inventory.

Second, if you are planning for an Apple pickup, the iPhone 4 may be activated before it leaves the store, individual store policy may vary. If it get's activated, then you are correct, your SIM will go dark. Just pickup one before you go and have it ready when the one in your iPhone 3GS goes dark. Call AT&T Customer Care and give them the ICCI from the new SIM and have it activated. Now your iPhone 3GS is back in service but your new iPhone 4 has a deactivated Micro SIM.... see this is getting messy.

A few more details from you will help us provide better answers...

I thought it was a limit of 2 that what it was for 3GS

Make your life easy..pre order the two phones from apple, have them mailed to you..then have your family member throw a shipping label on that iPhone box on the 24th..

Open it the next day and activate it ..then you can use your 3GS, and not have to worry about the one phone limit..

If you were going to have it overnighted to you, why don't you just preorder it and have it shipped straight to your destination. That way you'll have it waiting for you on the 24th wherever you're going.

Agreed. I will be traveling on the 24th, so I'm planning on having my iPhone shipped directly to the hotel that I will be staying at.

I'll actually be away from home so I'll be having it shipped to my brother's house! I'm so freakin pumped. My sister in law is due for an upgrade and she just wants a basic phone...... guess I'll be getting an extra iPhone 4 ;)
