Travelling from US to Barcelona & London

I'm hoping someone can help me. I will be travelling from the US with my 3GS iPhone to Barcelona and London. Is it possible to buy a Sim card from Orange or whoever I put that into my iPhone so that I can use it over there without paying an arm and a leg to ATT. Typically when I have gone to the England i used a UK "pay as you go" phone and just topped up. I was hoping to do the same and just have a UK phone number.

My iPhone is only 2 weeks old so I really don't want to jailbreak it etc.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Sorry no, AT&T iPhones will only accept AT&T sim cards, you MUST jailbreak and unlock if you want to use any type of foreign sim card.
