Am heading to Cali tomorrow, and am with o2 UK.

Should i definitely turn off data roaming? or will AT&T let me use their data?

Also, what about wifi? are there free wifi networks like 'the cloud'?

Finally...heard a rumour that you can type in ur mobile number when connecting to the cloud on your laptop? Is this true? and do i have to register or anything for this?

There are some free Wi-Fi locations in the US, but most charge. You can use at&t's data coverage, but at the rate O2 as negotiatied with at&t. You would be better off removing your SIM when you want to use Wi-Fi, as we have already seen many reports of iPhones using cellular data, even when connected to Wi-Fi.

Yes, you'll get stung by O2, the data overseas charges are extortionate. Use the web from a terminal in your hotel or work or wherever to avoid this.
