Using GPS and cell phone coverage - TrekSafe provides a line of communication with friends and family when you want it; and it alerts multiple contacts of your last known location when you need it.
Use the HELP function in the event of an emergency or when you feel threatened and can't talk, notifying multiple contacts of your GPS location and that you need assistance. Use the SAFE function to advise multiple contacts that you're safe and well - ideal when you're too busy to talk or travelling abroad, and you just want to send a quick SMS to let all your family members know you're ok....
The app is a "work in progress" and we're still making a few tweaks here and there to improve it's functionality.
The app was developed in Australia - I had the opportunity to test drive TrekSafe on a recent trip to Europe (6 countries). Overall it performed really well in sending a quick sms to let family and friends know we were safe and well. Thankfully I didn't need to send any distress messages
