They are being auctioned off by Christies and expected to cost $1,000 to 1,500.

However, they aren't real Tribbles. They are remakes, used for Deep Space Nine, not onces used in the original Star Trek series.

Luckily, you can also bid for a captain's chair, phasers, and other goodies.

Looks like Will Shatner's toupé.

Heard a blurb on NPR last night about this sale and how uberTrekkies were all upset that some of the stuff was being "broken up".

Its a good thing I can't afford anything on auction there. If I could then I'd be spending a *lot* of money!!

I'd love a Tribble, in fact I read a BBC News article where this lady had got a remake for Christmas and thought 'oooh, I want one of those!!'

Yes, I am a geek and I friggin love it!!

it'd be nice to have a tribble, but of all the 1,000,000,000 things I need to spend money on, a tribble doesn't make the list.

I guess you're saving it for this, plinkoman.

I won't be bidding. Didn't like ST even the first time around.

Wish I could have bid. Not on the tribbles, I couldn't care less about those.

My wishlist was:

Enterprises A, C, and D models

Romulan Warbird and Klingon Negh'Var type future attack cruiser

Enterprise-E command chair (captain jean-luc picard)

all the uniforms

and tons more.

I'm thinking that's the first item I saw sold, Q, on the webcast today. I came in at the middle but whatever it was sold for $20,000! (it was TNG seasons 1&2 style, command division, so either Picard or Riker, probably.

Others I saw:

Enterprise-C filming model: $40,000

Dyson Sphere (Relics- TNG) surface model: $6,500

Future Klingon Attack Cruiser: $22,000

Romulan Warbird: $30,000

Romulan Scoutship (The Defector- TNG): $5,500

USS Jenolen (scotty's ship, Relics- TNG): $22,000

Rogue Borg Ship (Descent- TNG): $9,500

USS Pegasus (The Pegasus- TNG): $18,000

Enterprise-D Nacelle Enlarged Model: $20,000

USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D Filming Model: $500,000!

Look what I got for only $66,260.69! The original Deep Space Nine model! ;)

I bought a tribble from Quark's bar in Las Vegas and I think it cost about $15. Looks the same but at least it makes noise and wiggles when you move it... :)

I missed this thread the first time around...my parents were in town. Anyway, I've already got a Tribble...this guy:

Trust me...he looked and sounded like a tribble when he was four weeks old. Seven years later, not so much.

Are you serious?
The answer to your question can be computed as follows:
int count = smilieFrequency( Doctor Q's post, ;) ) ;
bool serious = ( count == 0 ) ;
Also, I picked that price for a particular reason, since there are plenty of science geeks around here.
