i have had a 27" external monitor for a few years now, and realised i was rarely using it to it's potential. only itunes/videos and calendar ever got the full screen treatment, sometimes i'd put two excel documents side by side using the system's split full screen, but often there was just a lot of blank space around default sized safari windows. i figured i'd try it out rotated 90 degrees, and i'm liking it (the smaller footprint on my desk, the form factor being more conducive to reading etc.)
so far i've downloaded spectacle (as i found single windows to be a bit overpowering on a 27" monitor) to snap windows to the bottom ⅔ top ⅓. does anyone else have any tricks for using an external monitor in portrait orientation? things you changed up that made your mac just work better as a result?
