Since many peruse this section for help with routers etc I thought I would post this here.
I’d like to make anyone considering the installation of Verizon FIOS aware of yet one more “slime-ball” tactic.
FIOS recently became available to us and they are offering some pretty nice packages that are inclusive of gigabit internet service, phone, and television. They advertise the package at $79.99 (with the basic tv pckg) for new customers. All the BS begins when you add television b/c you are required to “rent” the top boxes for each tv. This ends up at about $150 per mo. once you have 2 tv’s and a tv pckg worth having. This is all good right?
Anyhow, once all services are installed you have 30 days to try everything out and can cancel at any time. My wife and I were on the fence about television service b/c with the new to us gigabit service, streaming would now become a viable option. Having never had this ability before, we were unfamiliar with the realities of cutting the cord so we initially s/u with the tv as part of our package.
We quickly discovered that we would definitely fall into the cord cutter category so we were thrilled that we could halve our bill of $140 per mo.
Called VZ to kill the tv and learned that they would be happy to do so and that our gigabit service would now be $140.00 per mo! We explained that we thought it was $69.99??? Sorry ma’am the $69.99 gigabit offer is for new customers only.
We are within the thirty days. Scumbags!
Buyer beware.

My Airport Extreme works pretty well bridged to the Quantum Router btw..about a 50% increase in wifi strength throughout our place.
