It was very highly rated, over 7,000 reviews mostly positive. $7.99 for 3. I figured how could I go wrong. https://www.amazon.com/Tethys-Protector-Designed-Coverage-Protection/dp/B07D6XR7FM

Just got it tonight and installed it, MAJOR loss in touch screen sensitivity. I guess you really do get what you pay for. Going to Apple tomorrow to get the Belkin that has always worked perfectly. Frustrating though, this will be the 4th or 5th one I’ve bought at over $45, their lifetime warranty is such a scam.

Fascinating, what do you think the difference is? I mean why is one piece of glass more sensitive than the other? This is the first time I have heard about this.

No idea, I know that it was a significant difference though, to the point that I am risking going unprotected and returning them until I can get to Apple.

Hmm, I’ve had the expensive protectors and I’ve used the cheap protectors from Amazon. I can’t tell the difference and for the price, the cheap (under $10) ones are the way to go for me. I’ve never had any problems.

same here. I bought a pack of three for $6.99. Best purchase I’ve made. Saved so much money on them.

If you're happy spending $45 and think your user experience is better, that's all that matters. I've got a 3 for $5 or $6 protector on my phone and it works great. My screen is sensitive to the lightest touches and works like there's no protector on it. I've used nothing but the cheap Amazon ones on my last 3 or 4 iPhones and have had no problems and my wallet thanks me.

I use amFilm on my phone as well as my kids' phones and they all work fine.

I bought this El Cheapo y Muy Bueno 4-pack from Amazon and I'm more than happy. I do think, though, that sticking any extra layer on a touch screen must affect sensitivity in some way. Mustn't it?

Exactly, yes it has to. I’m not sure I believe everyone who says it is exactly the same.

Do you mean which expense brands, well I’ve used the Belkin one that Apple gouges everyone for, I’ve used whichever one Best Buy recommended as the “best” a few years ago, and I’m telling you there’s no difference between them and these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TXGH5CN?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

Now I’m not gonna debate if a screen protector reduces sensitivity or not, but I will say there’s no difference between these “cheap” ones and the expensive ones, other than the price.

I usually default to Anker tempered glass screen protectors. I've used Zagg but have had issues with the sides bubbling up.

Then how is it that I noticed a significant difference in touch screen sensitivity between them? Believe me it was painful paying $40 for a flimsy piece of glass.

I second this. Purchased the same brand and noticed immediate reduction in touch sensitivity... Having tried other cheap or expensive products, I can only think that this glass is thicker than most causing this issue.

interesting hypothesis. i don't see a thickness specification on this product. my icarez is pretty thick (0.33mm i believe). does anyone know the thickness of the Belkin?

i haven't noticed any reduction in touch sensitivity using the icarez, but i've been using a glass protector since my iPhone 7 (that was a OtterBox one) so maybe i'm "less sensitive" to the differences between the original screen and one covered.

aside: i do notice the difference both naked and with protector between Touch 3D and Haptic Touch. i am starting to get used to the latter but this was a noticeable change for me going from the XS to the 11 pro.

None of us have. It’s too costly for me.

I can respect that, but I think that probably explains the disparity here. Most people have no basis for comparison, they have only tried the inexpensive brands. I kind of wish I hadn’t started with the Belkin, now I could never ignore the difference.

I used cheap screen protectors until one time I forgot to bother with getting any and realized it a few years years later when I was getting a different phone and going through the accessories checklist... hmm... picked up the phone I was replacing (a 4S) and looked at it closely and figured ok I guess I don't need a screen protector. Gorilla Glass or whatever that is on there must be the real deal because I sure don't baby my phones -- although I don't carry them around loose with my keys in a jacket pocket either, so maybe I've just been lucky.

Anyway my then new 5C and the iPhones after it - an SE, XR and a spare SE have all gone bare nekkid without prompting me to shift gears and resume buying screen protectors.

I have and Belkin is overpriced garbage. Just because something costs more doesn't make it better.
