Tried Search.. Is it normal for wireless keyboard to not reposnd after boot for 30s?

I just bought a wireless apple keyboard and mighty mouse. Every time I boot up the machine the mouse will work instantly, but the keyboard will take 30 or so seconds before it starts to function with the machine. I tried paring the keyboard again, but the problem is still there. I just wanted to know if this is normal, or is something is wrong with my setup. Thanks!
