tried to update to 4.3 update failed and contacts lost. I am going to forget about updating the firmware to 4.3.3 or whatever.. but how to recover back my contacts? Ideas? Thanks

The reason it failed is because you were trying to update to a firmware that is not currently being signed by Apple and you do not have your blobs saved.
