I had an unlocked iphone 3gs and was using redsnow to update to ios5, every thing went find till the end when my phone was suppose to restore and boot up but never did. Now my screen is completely black and when I connect it to itunes it says my phone is in recovery mode and to restore but when I go to restore it say " This device isn’t eligible for the requested build " I've tried so many different things to fix it. Some new suggest and ideas would be great to get it back to normal or to factory settings.

You can't restore to OS5 because Apple is no longer sign that firmware and that the reason you received that error. Restore it to 5.0.1 or 4.1.
