Any idea why I'm seeing this?

TRIM is only enabled for Apple's SSDs.

You can use TRIM Enabler but there have been quite a few issues with Vertex 2 SSDs. They have aggressive garbage collection which may overlap with TRIM and TRIM isn't really needed with SandForce based SSDs anyway.
