Weird situation here:

I am cloning my HDD (DriveGenius 3.1.2) in preparation to upgrade to Lion.

Should I upgrade to Lion and then buy a SSD, or buy a SSD then clone it with Snow Leopard and then upgrade to Lion after that?

I know Lion features TRIM (yay!) but am unsure if it will know (or care) that it loads up and finds that the storage media it's on has changed...

Thx!

1. Install Lion fresh on the new SSD (when you buy it from the App Store you can extract the DMG and burn it to DVD or similar)
2. Do one of the TRIM-enabling hacks such as the one at http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/ (Apple doesn't enable TRIM on third-party SSDs by default)
3. Migrate your data using Migration Assistant
