Triple address bar on Mac Mail messages

I am receiving messages where the sender's address is repeated two or three times in a single address bar. When I try to reply, I get an error message saying message can't be sent, and I have to select Edit and redo the address. This is happening regularly with one sender and sporadically with two more so far. ???
