I have been backing up my iMac to Time Machine (Time Capsule) for years. I now want to add my new MacBook to Time Machine. However the backup fails stating there is not enough disk space. How do I make space available on Time Machine to make room for my MacBook?

The only way to make space available is to delete (and start over) your TM backup from your iMac.

Perhaps its time to look at a solution that uses a larger drive now that you'll be backing up two computers. You can fix this problem initially but you'll be running into it again
