I recently followed the instructions on how to reset your admin password. The whole process of rebooting then holding the apple with the S . but i was not aware that it would wipe my computer clean. is there any way possible to retrieve the photos that are now gone. if so, please do explain. Thank you.

Precisely what steps did you follow??

All you have to do to reset your password is boot from the OS install disk and run the Password Reset utility from there.

My GUESS is that you removed /var/db/.AppleSetupDone, which would result in a new admin user being created. This would not delete your old user, but you'd automatically log in as the new user every time you reboot.
