Trouble changing iTunes account country.

I just recently moved from Italy to America and am having trouble changing my iTunes account information.

I currently have a $10 euro debt in my iTunes account that was registered in Italy. What I understand is that the only way to change the country on my iTunes account is to pay this off with an Italian credit card, which doesn't exist anymore.

I tried entering an American credit card, and an iTunes gift card that i bought here but neither worked.

please help :(
