I have an old mac mini (2012) running on Catalina.
I'm trying to set up a pfsense router and to run the console I need to connect the pfsense router to the mini via USB.
There is in a interim step where I need to install drivers (Prolific PL2303 USB to UART bridge).
So I have installed the driver (Mac mini says it was installed). When I connect the router to the mac mini vs usb I get nothing. I log into terminal and type.
ls - l /dev/cu.* (nothing there)
I try
ls /dev/tty.usbserial (no such file name, this is what it's supposed to be called).
I try
ls /dev/*usb* (no surch file or directory)
i've swtiched the usb cable from to a known good usb port. I've powered off the router, powered it on. I've restarted to mac mini to see if that is required to install the driver properly, I"ve reinstalled the drivers...nothing..
What am I doing wrong???? What can I do to get this driver in and recognizing the proper usb cable?
