Trouble Connecting to Airtunes and Netgear Router with AirPort Express

Good evening, all.

On Saturday I took purchase of an AirPort Express to wirelessly connect my MacBook Air to my hi-fi.

So far I have had little to no luck setting the environment up.

Before the AirPort Express I had been connecting to our Netgear router to access the internet, etc. wirelessly.

I have tried setting up the AirPort Express to join our home network but it doesn't seem to be interested.

Can anyone assist?
