Trouble connecting wirelessly in Spain to Telefonica. Pllleasse help.

I've done research and it seems like there has been a lot of problems with Macs connecting to Telefonica here is Spain.

I think my problem has to do with my configuration. I have one flatmate who has a PC and can connect wirelessly and one other flatmate who has a Mac which connects through her airport, but she bought it in France. I tried to look at her configuration but it was it french...

I can use my internet if I am connected via ethernet but when I try and connect via airport it says "Connection Timeout" Telefonica is no help at all... I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8

can anyone help me!?!?
