Ok, here's the story.

I had Snow Leopard for a decent while, but my computer was crashing a whole bunch, freezing, etc. The thing is, I borrowed my friends install disk, so I just reverted back to Leopard (erased hard drive, etc...no big deal.)

There is an update for 10.5.8, it downloads, but when it goes to the install page (blue screen with box showing the progress) it just stays at configuring. I left my comp on during the night, to see if it would finish but it stayed the same. It wasn't frozen either.

So, I tried again, and again but it keeps stopping at a certain point.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks in advance!

Your problem is, is that you can't use another computer's install disc in your Mac, although it appears to have worked for you. Up to a point, but it's that point which is probably causing you the problem.

No.

The leopard install disk is mine.

The snow leopard was a family one, so it had multiple uses.

That's defiantly not the reason.

Let me clarify, Leopard installed perfectly. It loads up, I use ichat, the internet, etc. But, when the system update pops up and says to download 5.4.8, that's when I run into trouble.

hey, that worked.

thanks, man.

not sure why the auto-update was giving me trouble. but, that one downloaded perfectly.
