Just wondering if anyone might know the source of my problem... My MacBook always struggles to find my router. It usually will take 5-10 minutes of toggling WiFi on and off to find it, and this is something that I have to do every time the laptop wakes up from sleep. Once I find it, I can connect no problem, and the connection will last until I let my computer sleep again. Then repeat...

I always see that my iPhone is connected to the router when the MacBook can't seem to find it which leads me to believe it's not a router issue. And on the other hand, my MacBook has no problem finding 20+ routers from the apartments around me which makes me think that it's not the laptop's WiFi receiver that's the problem either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Use wifi radar app or similar, it's likely that you have channel interference. The app will guide you to find the best channel to use.
